Modifying free Traction theme

I’m new to WP and am making a website for work using the traction theme. Site is @ phitlab.site40.net.

I figured out how to change the header to an image, but then realized that what I really wanted to change was not the header. ??
It’s the area right above the blue ‘categories’ line that has the name of the site. I’d like to change that to a banner instead of just the plain text, center it on the page, and make it clickable. I know this is possible with headers, but is it possible with the name area?

Also, I was wondering if there was a way to center the category links that are shown on the blue line. I’ve researched this online but couldn’t find any other posters with these questions.
