• Hello, im new to building sites and I dont know an code yet. Ive been searching for a way to do this for over a month, have tried numerous plugins none of which i can configure to do what i want it to do. I hope that profile builder can help me.

I want to start a niche social network (buddypress) but I need users to remain anonymous. In order to do that, I want to make sure that the only required registration fields are “Unique Display Name” and Password.

I created a register page using [wppb-register]code. I then set the buddypress register page to this page. When i try to register as a new user, i am taken back to the same “Account Details” wordpress registration page that i cannot seem to get away from no matter what. Any ideas on what i can do?

    Many Thanks

    Steve

    Hi,

I understand what you’re trying to achieve, but this won’t work without custom codding it.

The thing is, WordPress needs an email address for all sorts of notifications. So you won’t be able to go around that using existing plugin (it is quite possible using custom code though).

My suggestion would be to still use BuddyPress and try and custom code the BuddyPress registration page for it.

Thank you. Is there any way I could keep the email field but make sure that users email is never displayed to anyone, ever?

Unfortunately no, because you’re required to have an email address and if you don’t fill one you’ll get an error.
