modifing the index page

  • i wanted to add some code under the body section of the main index page or the page that comes up when you look at this https://www.merfnet.com this is where i want things to be present, but i cant add anything or just not sure if i use the wordpress control panel under the theme editor or just load it up ftp. i am using 1.5 version

  • You can make your addition either way. If you use the theme editor, you need to make sure the index.php or whatever page it is you’re editing is writeable by the server. If it’s not, then you can change that using CHMOD with your FTP program.

    Personally, I think that uploading with FTP is easier and less of a hassle. Plus it makes sure that there is a copy of the updated file on my harddrive for reference.
