    Hi there,
I was hoping you could shed some light on this.
I just run a Wordfence malware scan and it came up with a warning about twentytwelve.pot file been modified. I did not modify it but when I get to compare the original and the modified versions the difference is minimal or next to nothing.

    Original version:
    “Project-Id-Version: Twenty Twelve 1.0\n”
    “POT-Creation-Date: 2012-12-03 21:18:55+00:00\n”
    #. #-#-#-#-# twentytwelve.pot (Twenty Twelve 1.0) #-#-#-#-#

    My revsion:
    “Project-Id-Version: Twenty Twelve 1.1\n”
    “POT-Creation-Date: 2012-12-07 21:19:18+00:00\n”
    #. #-#-#-#-# twentytwelve.pot (Twenty Twelve 1.1) #-#-#-#-#

That’s it, there is no dogged function or else.
    So my questions are:
1.Are those changes as innocuous as they seem?
2.Why did I not get an update notification on the dashboard for that theme?

Any info would be much appreciated, thanks.

    1) I believe so, and 2) I do not know. I occasionally see those same kinds of reports, then they eventually go away. A recent one related to a certain plugin concerned me a bit, but then an update for that plugin came along the next day and the “warning” went away. So, it is apparently possible for authors to push things out without notification…then Wordfence ultimately shows all is well. But like you, I would like to know more about all of that.

    1. Yes. It’s common practice to update the .pot file when updating a theme.

    2. What version of Twenty Twelve do you currently have installed?

    leejosepho,

    Thanks for the input.

    esmi,

    1. I didn’t update the theme, that’s the thing. It appears the file was modified AFTER the theme was updated.
    2. Although it’s not activated, I got TwentyTwelve 1.1

3! Or maybe someone forgot to update the file in the repository after all!?

    Thanks for the input.

Well the .pot file matches your theme version. There’s no way that this apparent change was done by www.remarpro.com. Theme updates always replace the full theme folder – not individual files. Best guess – this is server related. Perhaps a housekeeping task run by your hosts “touched” the file – triggering a warning? Unfortunately, I don’t know that plugin well enough to determine what file attributes it looks for when checking files. You might want to ask the plugin developer this question.

    esmi,

Thanks again for your time and input, I’ll look in that direction.
