Modified plugin publishing

I have just finished modifying a plugin. The initial plugin – JQuery vertical accordion menu, has been extended to allow a single instance in the sidebar to display different menus depending on the users login role.

I think this may be usefull to some people and I’d be happy to publish the modified plugin but before doing so I’d like to know what the protocol is in this situation.
