• Sorry to bother but I just received this email and via a file manager I cannot see any of these changes. File dates have not changed. I have cleared my browser cache before checking BTW.

  • There should be changes noted if you select the option to show you what changed ion the individual files. If you haven’t changed the files yourself and no updates have been released it might be the plugin developers making changes direct to the repository without doing an actual release. We mirror the official wordpress repository so when it changes we get an update. We then alert you to the change. So if a dev sneaks in a change, it shows as different than the one you have, even though an update is not listed as being ready.
I’m willing to bet that most of those changes are minor, like compatibility notes in the readme files. Select “show me the differences” (or similar) to see exactly what was added or removed. You can also re-download the plugins in question and see if that fixes the problem.

This is scaring the crap out of me. Is it possible to go in and change a file and not have the file date change?

here are the changes so far in some of the files I checked ..

    Line 1 changes from <?php
    to <?php ?><?php

Well, it depends if you have been hacked or not. I had a site that was compromised through the akismet plugin that was outdated, even though it wasn’t used. They changed several files. But what I am talking about is if the plugin author makes a change on the wordpress repo without making it an official update. It shows as changed on your server because you haven’t updated it since the last time you were informed it had one. So it hasn’t really changed on your server. The one in the repository did. We show a difference because we mirror that.
