• Hi,

I run WordPress 5.4.1 and I have a question regarding iThemes Security 7.7.1 plugin: a security scan recently found a file that has been modified.

Here is a screenshot of the modifications (before on the left, after on the right):

My question is: do you think these modifications are safe or not?

I didn’t notice any suspicious changes on my website so far, but I want to make sure these file modifications are legitimate before clicking on the “ignore” button.

Thank you so much for your help!

  • According to the 7.7.1 Changelog:

Bug Fix: PHP warning when evaluating password requirements.

So that file being changed like that was exactly what the 7.7.1 update was supposed to do ??

To prevent any confusion, I’m not iThemes.

    Thank you nlpro.
So how does it come Wordfence warned me about this?
Does it mean Wordfence compared my file with an outdated one, hence it was flagged as potentially malicious?

    WordFence ?

Since you are posting into the iTSec plugin support forum I was assuming with “security scan“ you were referring to the File Change Detection module.

But now I understand it was WordFence that reported the file change.

Probably best to open a new topic in the WordFence support forum ??
