Hello, I am using free generatepress with generateblocks. When I edit a container text size under the mobile tab and then update I see that the desktop text size has changed as well, is this normal behavior? I am a newbie for sure, but I thought if you were changing the text size under the mobile tab that it would not change the desktop text size too. Am I missing something?
    Thanks
I am using localhost so not sure how to link. I do have screen shot.

    Thank you,
    donut99

    Hi there,

    Definitely not normal behavior.

We would really need to see the live site in question to determine the issue though – screenshots don’t really help in this case.

Any chance you can duplicate the issue on a live/staging site environment?

    Let me know ??

Hey Leo, so I have recreated the problem with the live version. I am just experimenting at this time. What I don’t understand is that when I edit the headline size while in the mobile tab and mobile preview, I then update and the desktop and mobile are both changed. Maybe its because I don’t have the paid version? I don’t know?

    Thanks again,
    Jon

    That’s definitely not the reason.

Can you provide the live site URL for me to take a look?

    How do I do that?

    Hi there,

I believe this is a bug in the current version.

It has been fixed in 1.2.0, which is currently in alpha testing: https://generateblocks.com/generateblocks-1-2-0/

Hey Tom, I’m back! I think I spoke too soon. I am still having the same problems. When I edit using the mobile tab, I still have problems with it saving to both the desktop and mobile. Actually, it is really buggy altogether when switching between mobile and desktop editing.
Here is the link, I guess this is what you needed.

    Thanks,
    Jon

    Hi there,

Just to confirm, are you testing 1.2.0-alpha.1?

Any chance you show me a screenshot or a quick video of the issue?

    Thanks!

Hey Tom, yes I am using that version. Here is a quick video of me changing the headline size.

I sent you a video to your email.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

i saw the video – it looked as though you were trying to change a H6 heading element on desktop to a H1 only on Mobile. That is not possible. As you cannot change element tags responsively.

If thats what you need to do you would have to create two headlines, one for Desktop and one for Mobile. Then you can give them a GP hide-on-* classes to hide the relevant one:

    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/responsive-display/#using-our-hide-on-classes

If you simply want to change its styling then you would use the Headline Block where there is responsive Typography controls:

    Not resolved, but thank you.

    Hi there,

This is actually intended functionality – it’s not technically possible to change the element tag name between devices.

The only way it’s possible to do that is to use the method that David mentioned – adding multiple elements with different tag names and showing/hiding them across different devices.
