Mobile menu does not work/is stuck

  • Hi! My mobile menu does not seem to work! When you click it, the color is changed but does not open te menu and the page is stuck all together. The only thing I have changed yesterday is in the menu section: For my mobile menu there was no menu selected (there never has been) and it always worked perfectly. When i work on my laptop in my dashboard it always used to say ‘– select a menu’ at the mobile menu. Yesterday I tried selecting my main menu that is also the menu on desktop for a bit, to see what happened. Nothing really, it stayed the same. So i changed it back to ‘ — select a menu’, as that always worked. Today I see on my phone the problem above, even if I DO switch back to the menu I use on my desktop that i just tried for fun yesterday, it still gets stuck and doesnt show the menu. Neither options work now. What do I do?

    Hi there,
    It seems there is no menu selected. Can you make sure you have a location for you mobile and main menu (same)?

    EDIT: I edited the footer.php file with a copyright line in it (i have always had it, but yesterday it was gone, probably after a WordPress update?), so last night I made a backup of my existing footer and copypasted the (probably pre WP-update) footer with my copyright line in it I had in my notes. Just now I thought: let’s see if that has anything to do with my mobile menu not working. So I just copied a copyright line into the post WP-update footer and voila, my mobile menu works again. Could this have been it? I still have a problem with my dropdowns not working though, see below this message.

    Thanks @markwaregr. I have now, and I had before, but still it didnt work (then), and now it doesnt either. The funny thing is that before yesterday, I didnt have any menu selected, and it worked perfectly. Now that ive dabbled with it a bit, it doesnt. I havent changed anything else for mobile. What could be wrong still if I have the same menu selected as on desktop?

    Hi @markwaregr! A much bigger issue now, is that my dropdowns in my menu dont work either anymore, I am now seeing. I have made ’empty’ menu items with the #, two weeks ago and all my pages are under there, and it worked perfectly. Now the little arrow besides the dropdown menu item is gone and i cannot click on the dropdown items, as they disappear once i leave my mouse off the main menu item. Could you please look at this? I am in the middle of promotions for my company, no one can see my website correctly now :(. Thanks for your help!

    Hi @markwaregr, thanks for these links. Both links I know from head to toe. As mentioned, my mobile menu is now back because I put back an older version of my footer last night, adding my copyright line to this older footer.

    The bigger problem now (and still since two days) is: on desktop, not mobile, my dropdown menus do not have the dropdown option anymore: The arrow beside the item is gone, and when you hover the main item, you see the subitems, but as soon as you remove your mouse from the main item, the list disappears. You cant click the submenuitems, for they disappear. Can you please help with this? What has changed (maybe in the footer after an update?) that has made this option (with a ‘blank’ custom link (#) as a main menu item and submenu beneath it, that this no longer works? It worked fine and was brilliant. Thanks again for your help!
