I installed the WPMobileMenu plugin, only to later decide not to use it. I deactivated and deleted teh plugin from my site. However, the mobile bar that appears with the logo/text is still there (when displayed on mobile) although the menu icon no longer does. How do I get this fully removed?

I checked it on both my phone (IOS) and a friends phone (Android) to confirm it is still there.

Check forwards to a 000webhost wordpress site) to confirm. Thanks for your help.

    Hi @depperson,

Deleting the plugin should be enough. Not sure if this site uses any cdn that can be serving old files.

Can you double check if the directory mobile-menu doesn’t exist anymore in wp-content/plugins ?

As far as I am aware, it does not use any cdn. I basically built it as a landing page with some design and was trying different plugins for the mobile menu.

I did check the wp-content/plugins and mobile-menu directory is not there.

When I use a User Agent spoofer on my PC, the WP Mobile Menu header bar doesn’t appear, but it does on an actual mobile device.

Something is still caching the files, there is nothing in the plugin that prevents it from being deleted.

Check for any cache mechanism and purge it. This is really strange.

I’m gathering that you see the header bar I speak of.

I don’t use any caching plugin – and at best am a WordPress novice – so what other mechanisms would be caching this within wordpress? The only other thing I can think of is something the webhost might do to cache the site.

    Thanks for your assistance.

yes I can see it. I found this errors in the javascript console.

This means that those files can’t be loaded (incorrect htaccess configuration) not because they don’t exist but because that file type is not allowed. This give us a confirmation that the files are in this server https://kimcolorstreet.000webhostapp.com/ because if they don’t existed the error code would be 404 instead 400

try to login directly in https://kimcolorstreet.000webhostapp.com/wp-admin and double check that you deleted in the correct instalation.

I went into the file manager, and the plugin folder is not there, and there is nothing showing regarding the Mobile Menu in my admin panel.

I did read up about possible javascript caching? but I’m not sure how I would clear that

maybe it’s installed at a network level(mulsite), check inside the mu-plugins directory.

it can’t be javascript cache since the part of the menu that we are seeing is built with PHP that doesn’t have any cache.

I Installed WP – super cache Plug-in, Did a simple delete cache, and the header appears to be gone.

    Will you confirm?

    Plugin Author Rui Guerreiro

    (@takanakui)

It seems to be gone. I doubt that it was because of that procedure. The WP Super Cache only starting caching after being installed so it can’t be it.

Probably it was a coincidence, I would say that your hosting has some aggressive caching mechanism that expires after X hours.

What matters is that is sorted.

    Thread Starter depperson

    (@depperson)

if that’s the case, it must’ve been like a 24 hour cache LOL

Thanks for helping me look into it!

Probably it was. Glad it’s sorted now.
