It seems that both issues can be fixed with a touch of CSS. You can try the following snippet in Appearance -> Customize -> Additional CSS or wherever you have your custom CSS rules:

@media screen and (max-width: 480px) {
  .home #et-boc div.et_pb_section.et_pb_section_0 {
    background-size: cover;
  }
  .page-id-50124 .et_pb_gallery_image img {
    width: 100%;
  }
}
