Mobile and tablet friendly site

    Hi there,

    I am building my first site https://www.smtsmodels.com and have come across the problem that it does not display very well on my Kindle. I am assuming it would look the same on other Android devices.

    When I have my Kindle in a vertical position the page tabs in the main sidebar are not on one line (as they cannot all fit on the screen) and this issue is the same with the footer.

    I have installed the WPTouch plugin, however, I cannot find any options for auto-resizing of pages for tablet devices. Does such a plugin exist or do I need to do some voodoo with the code of the site?

    The WPTouch plugin in my experience has worked great for Apple iPhones and many Android phones but not for tablets, and other tablet like devices (you either get a site optimized for phone and not really taking advantage of larger tablet screen, or full site which is not optimized for either depending on the tablet).

    Have you considered using a theme with responsive design. These themes will adjust the text and images based on which device you are using so it works as a “one size fits all” resizing of the site whether its a standard monitor, tablet, or phone (or Kindle)

    The one I currently use is Oxygen and I love it but there are a ton of others (many free) that you can take a look at and see if one of them might work for you

    Check out https://alienwp.com/ – they created oxygen and have several other themes on their site that are responsive as well. Like I said there are others if you do a Google search for “responsive wordpress themes”

    BTW there are other mobile optimizing plugins like WordPress Mobile Pack but if you want the site to look great on ANY device, would think about the responsive route.
