.mo files lost during updates

    When there is a version update I have to manually copy my .mo localization file back to the directory. Is it normal? Should not these files be preserved during updates?

    They are not preserved during updates because of the way WordPress processes plugin updates. The .mo files should always be backed up before updating. Also, some of the updates include language updates as well, so the .mo files might not reflect the current update.
