    Hi!
I am having a problem with Sub total and total calculations.
I have a mixture of taxable and untaxable products. However tax only applies to buyers from Australia.
Prices entered including tax is ticked.
“Taxableness” of each product is controlled when entering products.
Currently when someone from Australia makes a purchase the total and tax calculates correctly.
However when someone from outside Australia makes a purchase, the tax is removed from tbe taxable products (as you would expect) however, the subtotal calculates removing the 10% tax component even when the product is untaxable.

I am using the Mystile theme and I have tried deactivating ALL plugins except WC and the problem still persists.

    Help!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I’m not quite sure what you mean. Could you list out an example?

    Thanks!

    Hi Hannah!

    Thanks for your response!

Tax is set up to zone (ie Australia) specific. So Tax is applied to products according to the billing address of the customer.

Woocommerce is set up as “prices are entered including tax”.

So if a customer puts in their cart…

    – a $2.20 untaxable product (of which no tax is charged)
    – a $2.20 taxable (of which $0.20 tax is included in the price)

If the customer’s billing address is in Australia: their subtotal and total at checkout would say “$4.40 (inc. $0.20 tax)”.

If a customer’s billing address is outside Australia (then by Australian law, tax is not required to be charged) and thus the Subtotal SHOULD say “$4.20” (the complete price of the untaxable product plus the price of the taxed produxt without the tax). However instead it says “$4” – removing the tax from the taxable product but also appearing to remove a tax component from the untaxable product.

    Is that clearer?

    Thanks for that explanation!

In your scenario, I’d expect the person outside of Australia to pay $4.20, so excluding tax – so we’re on the same page in regards to the calculation.

However instead it says “$4” – removing the tax from the taxable product but also appearing to remove a tax component from the untaxable product.

This is where you’ve lost me – what tax component are you referring to?

Yes that’s just the very problem. In the above scenario I put both products at the same price but of course one is not taxable and the other one has part of the price is tax and the other part is a tax exclusive price.

    Thus the total is calxulatinf

Product 1 is $2.20 but there is no tax thus when tax is not charged, that product shouldn’t change in price no matter where the buyer is. But basically the total is being calculated as if nontaxable prices are actually taxable.

When testing it out, when you change the country from Australia to any other country, the product prices of taxable produxt drop to remove the tax as you would expect, the nontaxed products prices stay the same as you would expect. It’s the TOTAL calculation that is wrong.

I’m still having trouble understanding exactly what you’re trying to set up. Can you please include a few screenshots of your tax/product setup so that I can have a better look?

    Thanks!

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved. If you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.

Sorry no its not resolved. Just other things in life have distracted me from chasing this up (you know: 4 kids, school holidays, Christmas preparations. ??) This issue very much still persists.

I will give a thorough description including screenshots after Christmas.

    Thanks!
