• I successfully installed one domain with wp.org after getting a mix of services part .com and part .org. Now I want to install another domain (.org) Both of these domains will be administered on the same computer. I’m unclear if I can use the same installed WP for both??

  • I’m not sure what you’re trying to do.

You installed your own WordPress site on a webhost, at a specific domain name — and you want another site on the same host but with a different domain name?

This will depend on your hosting. If you can point two domains at the same website directory, then you could convert to Multisite

To get the other domain to work, you will need to use domain mapping plugin like:

If you’re uncomfortable with any of that, I would advise checking with your web hosting company about adding another installation to your existing hosting plan or adding another hosting plan for the second WP installation.

    Hi,

I want francanuccihaynes.com to be totally separate from haynes-photographs.com. Yes I want 2 separate sites, both using WordPress, domains separate. Can you please just register the new domain and I can get on with setting up the second WP site on Stablehost?

BTW, I really appreciate all the help albeit from 6 different people. ?? I know you’re used to the way this all works, what with .com and .org but it’s a bit confusing. I needed the help.

OH, I see the problem. There are three entities here and I’m treating them as 2. There, in my case are, WordPress, Namecheap and Stablehost which is just the way I set up managing these 2 sites. All I want from Namecheap is becoming the registrar for both haynes-photographs.com (which is setup and working) and francanuccihaynes.com. I have transferred the domain (fnh.com) to Namecheap, got the transfer code from the old registrar and passed it on to Namecheap. I setup a new account with Namecheap and authorized Namecheap to register that domain. As soon as that’s done and I am notified I can reset the name servers with Stablehost, buy the theme I want to use and create the site. Or something like that. ??

Yeah, it’s confusing. It didn’t really matter where you registered the domain names (although it’s never here). They could have been different and it would be fine. The domain names, once you have them pointed to the host, will be two different folders (you’ll use cpanel or something like it to access them) and they will each have an installation of WordPress, which is just software in this context, not a service like the others.

    Good luck
