Mistakenly deleted RSS icon from widget area

  • Hi,
    I mistakenly deleted RSS icon from widget area and I cleared from inactive widget area also, Now I want to use it, Kindly tell me how to get it back, Although rss.php file is available in wp-include folder. Kindly help me out, I am worried how to get it back. I searched on internet also but did not get any answer. Kindly help me.

  • There should be an RSS widget under the default widgets (See “Available Widgets” under the Widgets tab under Appearance on /wp-admin/)
    You just drag that to the widget area where you want it to display.

    Carike’s solution applies when you had a widget that displayed links to posts on another website on your sidebar.

    If you previously had a widget with an image that linked to your own site’s RSS feed, there are a number of options. The Text, Custom HTML and Image widgets all allow you to add a link to your feed.

    The RSS feed URL you’ll need is simply your homepage URL with ‘/feed’ added. In your case: https://indiakirasoi.com/feed/ .

    If you’re not comfortable writing HTML, I’d recommend using the Image widget.

    Otherwise, you can use the Custom HTML widget and insert something like:

    <a href="[RSS feed URL]"><img src="[RSS icon image URL copied from the Media Library]" /></a>

    The problem is , I deleted the RSS widget under “Available Widgets” and also deleted from Inactive widget. I want to restore RSS feed widget.

    I’m not quite sure how you would delete a widget from the “Available widgets” section. All widgets should be listed there, and the RSS widget is part of WordPress, not added by a plugin. Can you check if it is listed on /wp-admin/widgets.php ?

    Can you describe the widget you previously had? What did it display? How did it function?
