• I added a folder named “WordPress” and installed WP there instead of the normal “Public_HTML” installation. As a result my Permalinks show as;
    mysite.com/WordPress/article title.

    Not the best idea. I want to reinstall WP in normal way to delete the WordPress title in my Permalinks.

    1. I have numerous posts already written
    2. Many Plug-Ins installed
    3.And so on

    The obvious question; how can I first install a fresh copy of WP in the public_HTML location and do whatever is necessary to keep/preserve all my posts, plug-ins and so on that are now in the folder “WordPress”?

    Any advice appreciated!

    Thanks for the reply and links. One question, the WP installation is on a site that I am using for development purposes only, a test site I guess it could be called.

    Everything is saved as a Draft, that site isn’t actually active online. When I finish all my work there, everything will be ported over to an entirely different web server.

    If I import the site into the new server where WP has been installed in the proper public_HTML area, will all my problems with the mysite.com/WordPress/article title permalinks be resolved automatically, or is this just wishful thinking?

    Anyone have an answer to my last post?

    Thanks,

    Read the links I posted; that’s what you need to know. Moving the whole site and moving content into an existing WP site are two different processes. Either way wil fix the permalink issue.

    Your “Draft” content makes no difference; the content is still in the same database, and will be exported in the WXR if you go that route.

    Yes, I did read the links again, thanks.

    The only reason I mentioned Drafts is that I wanted to point out this was not a live site (probably doesn’t make any difference, just wanted to be clear).

    Based on your information I will just go ahead and not worry about the Permalinks where I am working. Then when I want to go “Live” I will move all the content to the new site where I have WP installed in the public_HTML area instead of a separate WP folder and that will correct my Permalinks to what I want.

    Again, thanks for your patience and your answers.

    Ron
