    Hi,
I recently signed up with BlueHost.

My domain alongourway.com was purchased through WordPress, so technically it’s still on their server. (I didn’t transfer ownership to bluhost) I am using Blue Host for www.remarpro.com.

From my original site on wordpress.com, I exported the XML file and directed the name servers over to BlueHost’s.

Once I installed WordPress on Bluehost, I imported my XML file to www.remarpro.com.

Here are the problems I’m having:
    – All my stats/pages visits are gone
    – I have broken images on certain posts, but in the Edit Post view, you can see the images load slowly. Also, when you click the broken image it brings you to a full size page of the image. Because of this, I know the photos are existing somewhere, right?
    – My header image is missing
    – My widgets are missing
    – Some menus are missing

I’ve searched all over the internet, and I can’t seem to figure this out. I’d really like to get this all fixed so I can get my blog going again.

    Could someone please assist?

    Thank you

Do any settings need to be changed in “My Domains” on wordpress.COM?

    Primary Domain Subscription Manage
alongourway.com Active – renews on Edit Domain
This is your Primary Domain; the domains below will redirect to it.

    alongourway.wordpress.com Never Expires

should alongourway.com not be primary here?

You really need to ask the folks over at wordpress.com about this. We are not really the experts when it comes to wordpress.com related stuff – they are. ??

hey! Just sent you an email!!

Got it. I’ve just had a quick scan of the xml files and you definitely did not suffer from a loopback, so we can rule that out.

What I did notice was that all of the 3 “missing” images that you referenced were absolutely huge. We’re talking 3000-5000 pixels in side and weighing in at 4 – 5 meg each. I suspect that they were simply too big for the importer to cope with without timing out. You should be able to confirm this by checking to see if any of the other “missing” images are of a similar size. Right now, I think your only option is going to be to re-upload and re-insert them.

When you carried out the import, did you notice any messages suggesting that some images were not being imported?

I did not get any messages about images not being imported.

Also, they are in my Media Library. Wouldn’t that mean that they were imported?

Any idea why some have those weird URLs?

Are there any widgets that can fix this without doing it manually?

they are in my Media Library

But they make have been too large for WordPress to create the thumbnails. The larger the image, the more PHP memory is needed to crunch and create thumbnails from them. Do you have access to your server’s error logs? If “yes”, you might want to see if there are any messages relating to insufficient memory in there.

    I’m sorry I don’t understand?

Even if I go to Edit Post, and look at the Text, I can see the image is pointing to the normal image URL.

    <a href="https://www.alongourway.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/img_1906.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-1003" src="https://www.alongourway.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/img_1906.jpg?w=700" alt="IMG_1906" width="700" height="466" /></a>

[Moderator Note: Please post code & markup between backticks or use the code button. Your posted code may now have been permanently damaged by the forum’s parser.]

Why then is it appearing broken in the actual post? I just don’t understand. Where is this weird URL coming from? https://i1.wp.com/www.alongourway.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/img_1903.jpg

Is there any widget to fix this issue? Has no one else had this problem?

The markup was imported in the post as part of the xml file. However the image was apparently not imported correctly due to its huge size (> 5meg).

So the only fix is to manually re-insert the images from my media library?

    :/

Right now, I think so – yes.

I really appreciate your help on this. I just find it hard to believe that no one else has had this problem.

I can’t find any threads relating to this same issue, and it’s just very frustrating when I’ve spent hours on these posts.

You mentioned it could be a memory issue on upload? Although some posts have some images that do work, is it possible splitting the XML file in half could work?

The larger the image, the more PHP memory is needed to crunch and create thumbnails from them. Do you have access to your server’s error logs? If “yes”, you might want to see if there are any messages relating to insufficient memory in there.

Even if that’s the case, how do I FIX IT?

I don’t understand how there aren’t any other forum posts on this?
