    Salutations

After the most recent WordPress update (just updated today) my text (html) editor has gone missing. The visual editor is still there and the Edit buttons are still there. I temporarily deactivated my WP-Edit plugin and the text editor button re-appeared. I tried to reinstall the WP-Edit plugin again but the text editor button disappeared again. (Yes I purged the browser cache and even restarted in between installs.)

I don’t think I see anything that disables the Text editor, only something that disables the Visual editor in the main WordPress settings.
I don’t recall seeing anything in WP edit settings that allows you to hide the Text Editor button.

The unusual thing is if I try to disable the visual editor through WordPress settings, it shows me a text editor by default but without any buttons.

I’m using windows 8.1, the latest chrome (tested this in the latest firefox too) in case that is relevant.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.
    Diana

    Sorry I found the answer.

In WP Edit Settings->User Specific->Hide Text tab
    Uncheck the box beside it.

    Cheers

    Hey Diana,
    Sorry for my delay.

Glad you got it working properly.

That option should have been de-selected by default. Most all options have to be enabled by the user. I did this intentionally, so the user would “hopefully” remember where a particular setting was enabled.

But, we’ve all searched for that “rogue” setting… trust me ??

Thanks for coming back to update your answer and post your solution. Much appreciated.

    Please have a wonderful week.
