missing stylesheet

Pardon me for hitting the wrong button on my keyboard…
This question has been asked before, but the topic is closed and I cannot read the replies: When I log-in as administrator and attempt to change themes, two of my newly downloaded themes are described as having a “missing stylesheet.” The stylesheets do actually exist for these themes and are in the appropriate folder with the rest of the theme content. How can I get WordPress to recoginize the existance of these stylesheets so I can try the themes?

Where do you download the themes from? (link, please)
Are those themes WP 1.5 compatible?
Are you on wp 1.5?

Also, the stylesheets have to be named style.css

From reviewing other threads on this a coomon “theme” is putting the theme in an improper directory. Make sure the directory is wp-content/themes/themename/style.css

There is another issue that might be the problem. Just to give you some options and help future users.

The Theme’s style sheet must have a header as described in this article on Theme Development. If that is missing, the Presentation or Theme selector on your Administration Panel won’t “find” the Theme’s stylesheet.

Then, inside the themes, especially the header.php needs to be the information that will “call” the theme appropriately, not only to the file name but the template file reference.

I get that same error (Stylesheet is missing.) with all of these themes:

journalized-theme-2.0-Beta-1
journalized-winter-theme-1.0.2
magazine.
problogger-clean
sem-theme
springer-theme
triSexuality
wordpress19

I am using WP 1.5. It appears they each have a style.css file within their proper directory. Other themes are working fine.

So, is the only fix on the end of the person supplying the theme or am I supposed to be able to do something? I read the article referenced above but was not able to make heads or tails of it.

Sorry to ask, this is just so frustrating. Finding great themes that won’t complelety load…
