Missing Status – Unable to Publish

Theme: Elegant Themes Lucid
I may have found a bug, but do not know if it is related to the plugin or to the new theme I have started to use.
On a default install of WP, the plugin works fine.
When I have Elegant Themes Lucid theme activated, important controls disappear — especially the ability to Publish.
In the default WP install, the Publish sidebar control includes buttons titled SAVE and PREVIEW, and a STATUS drop down menu that includes Pitch, Assigned, In Progress, Draft, and Pending Review. The Publish control also includes a Publish button.
When Elegant Themes Lucid theme is activated, the STATUS title is missing, and the Status drop down menu only includes Pending Review and Draft. Additionally, there is no Publish button available.
Also, Editorial Comments do not work when Elegant Themes Lucid theme is activated.
