• I recently had a problem with the RSS feed which caused high CPU usage on the server, so my host had to turn it off for a while. I think I resolved the issue thanks to someone here, and I had to remove the RSS widget which was pulling recent posts, but now, my feed seems to have disappeared entirely. It should be at https://www.themilkfactory.co.uk/st/feed, or at least that’s where it used to be, but all I am getting now is an error message.

I did add the RSS widget to my side bar again this morning, but since I am getting the following message a lot: “Error establishing a database connection”. I don’t know whether this is related, but I have just removed it again to see whether this makes any difference.

Thank you in advance for any help anyone could provide.

  • Have you tried contacting your hosts to see if they still have any form of block in place?

They have told me that they have reinstated everything, but that either the plugin was missing or the feed was removed. I thought I’d ask here before just in case if was something I’d overlooked…

Can anyone help with this? Do I need to have the RSS widget in my sidebar for https://www.themilkfactory.co.uk/st/feed to work?

    No you don’t.

either the plugin was missing or the feed was removed

The feed is part of the WP core – not a plugin. How many posts (as opposed to Pages) have you published?

I have around 670 posts in total. Does it mean that I might need to reinstall WordPress? Would this resolve the issue do you think?

Thanks for your help, this is much appreciated.

I was wondering whether anyone could help with this. I have reinstalled WordPress this evening hoping it would solve the issue I have with my RSS feed having vanished, but it hasn’t.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
