Hello! The Quiz start button has disappeared from my page and only text is displayed, even though I haven’t made any changes to the settings. I’ve also noticed that if I leave the Maximum Allowed Attempts in the Limit Attempts add-on empty (i.e. the value is 0), the button disappears from the page. Now I’ve tried to fill in some value and set the ‘Limit Mode’ to either ‘All Users’ or ‘Hybrid mode’. Neither helps. All results should be saved by default, because in the ‘HD Quiz Results’ add-on I haven’t selected the ‘Only save results for logged in users’ – option (the button on the left in red) but no results were saved.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

(Suite) … The shortcode has also been copied to the page in edit mode.

There is a critical error somehwere on your site preventing HD Quiz from loading.

And I don’t mean loading as in what the Limit Attempts addon does, I mean nothing is loading at all except the HTML. Neither the Stylesheet nor the JavaScript file are loaded on your site for HD Quiz.

I see that you are using WP Fastest Cache. So the first thing to check it to make sure that there wasn’t an error with the cache. Fully clear your site cache (Delete Cache and Minified) so that WPFC can rebuild it fresh – hopfully including all of the correct assets this time.

Beyond that, unfortunately, there is nothing I can do to help other than provide you with basic WordPress debug steps. Without any debug codes or error logs, I cannot provide any advice on where to look. Enabling WP_DEBUG would be particularly useful for your usecase.

Hello! I just checked. My host says that there is no critical error or any issue on my site. They say that this is a plugin issue. So?

I have also cleared cache allover the site. The WP Fastest Cache settings have been the same as they were when the page worked. Why doesn’t it work now, I don’t know?

Your host has no idea if there is an error on your site because you do not have debug mode enabled. Please do what I recommended, in order, until you find the issue.

    1. Clear your full site cache with WP Fastest Cache. If this does not work,
    2. Enable Debug Mode then view the page with the quiz. Note any error messages that appear. If this does not work,
    3. Disable all other plugins and see if the issue remains. Re-enable one by one to find if another plugin is breaking the page.

The Quiz shortcode is only visible if I am logged in to the site. What does it mean?

Instinct tells me that it is a caching issue related to WP Fastest Cache. Most caching plugins will not show the cached version of the site for logged in users.

So my theory is that when logged in, you are seeing the “true”, uncashed version of the site – where the quizzes work. When not logged in, you are seeing the broken cached version.

The best advice I can give you is to, once again, make sure you clear your entire site cache within WP Fastest Cache. And as I said, not just “clear cache” but “Delete Cache and Minified“. This will force WPFC to rebuild the site cache again, hopefully without issues this time.

As always, make sure that everything is up to date. Both your WordPress installation and WPFC.

If you still cannot get it working, please contact the WP Fastest Cache team. They can help you debug your cache setup or provide further advice. You can also show this thread if you need help explaining the issue to them.

I disabled the plugin completely for a while. Didn’t help.

Check your host as well. It looks like you are with BlueHost, and they have their own caching system. Their documentation is here: https://www.bluehost.com/help/article/wordpress-caching

Now that I removed your Limit attempts – plugin it works just fine with History Quiz also when logged out, but the Finnish version Historian tietovisa, doesn’t. All quizzes have the same settings.

Did you log into blue host and clear the cache, because the link you originally sent me is still not showing any of the correct files.

The problem solved, they cleared the cache at their end on Bluehost and now it works. Many thanks for your patience!

Glad you got it solved! There is a reason the first thing I said was to clear cache and then kept bringing it up haha – everything you said just screamed cache problem to me.

Some advice: if you follow the link I previously sent – that is the official bluehost support page for their own cache system. I recommend logging into your account and disabling the bluehost cache entirely. You are already using WP Fastest cache, which is a much better caching solution, and by only using WPFC you will help avoid future caching issues.

It seems that the joy was premature. I have tried removing add-ons one by one to see if any of them is causing the problem. After that, the black start button appears on the page, but when I leave the page and come back, the start button has already disappeared from the page. I have also cleared the cache several times with the Fastest Cache tool, but it has no effect.

Did you disable the Blue Host cache like I recommended? If the blue host cache is breaking things, just disable it completely, you don’t need it.
