Missing Previous Posts in Archives and Categories

I recently created my own template for the first time (lamepunkslogan.com) in 2.0 and am having a problem getting my categories and archives pages to show “previous post” links. Some of these sections (arch. or cat.) will show prev. links on the first page, so that you can access a total of 6 to 8 posts on two pages within the same section, but no more. Some behave as if there are only 3 or 4 total posts in a given section.

All posts are accessible though permalinks and show up on the post count in the category list, so I know they actually exist.

Any help would be much appreciated.
