Missing Post Features

  • Since I updated to v6.0, when I create/edit posts, the Author, Category and Feature Image tabs on the right-hand side have disappeared.
    I’ve tried disabling plugins and reactivating plugins to determine if it’s a plugin compatibility issue, but I don’t understand why it would be. But nothing worked.

    My user account is a full admin.

    After searching, I can see that some people have had the same or similar issue, but their solutions (deactivating plugins etc.) didn’t work for me.

  • Hi @digital2019, sorry to hear about the issues after updating to WP v6. Do you by chance have screenshots of before/after the update? Which WP version did you update from?

    If you’re using the block editor (Gutenberg), one thing you could try is click on the 3 vertical dots on the top-righthand side of the editor, click on ‘Preferences’, and click on ‘Panels’. It should have the ability to toggle what is displayed as panels. See the following screencast to see what I mean: https://d.pr/i/mQqlcl

    we have done that before but it didn’t work we upgrade from 5.8.4 to 6.0.1

    How can I send you before and after screenshots?

    You could use a service like Droplr, Snipboard, etc.

    Thank you for providing the screenshots @digital2019. At first glance, I see the author and category fields unless I’m missing something. I do see what you mean about the featured image not being available. I wonder if it’s further down the screen, as it seems the items are out of order. If you scroll down in that panel, do you see the options? See a screencast from my computer: https://d.pr/i/sR80lm You could also try zooming out in your browser and see if it appears if you’re not able to scroll. Go to ‘View’ -> ‘Zoom Out’ in your browser.

    If the featured image panel is still missing after taking those steps, it’s possible something happened in your theme that is making featured images incompatible. If you feel comfortable with code, you could check if your theme’s functions.php file contains add_theme_support( 'post-thumbnails' ); if not, add it.

    Hopefully, you’re able to get to the bottom of this soon.
