• Hi there,

I’ve been using the Participants Database plugin on a client’s site for a few years now with no problem. However, it hadn’t been updated since it was first installed and was experiencing some issues.

After I updated the plugin to the most recent version (1.6.2.8) I’m missing several options in the sidebar. The only options that show up are “List Participants” and “Add Participant”. I’m trying to delete a duplicate entry but am unable to do that.

So far I’ve tried disabling the plugin and manually updating the plugin files via FTP, in case some files didn’t successfully update the first time. No luck. Any ideas what I can try?

    Thanks,
    Mitch

Are you logged in as an editor? You need to be logged in as an admin to see all the menu items.

Yes, I am logged in as administrator.

I do have a plugin installed called User Role Editor, which allows you to create new Roles, or add and remove permissions to different roles.

I made sure that all permissions are granted to me as Administrator, but still can’t see any other options in the Participants Database sidebar. I deactivated the plugin to see if that would make a difference but no luck.

Let me know if you have any other suggestions. I can try to delete the User Role Editor plugin if need be, but I’d like that to be a last resort.

    Thanks,
    Mitch

OK, well the plugin is looking for the specific capability “manage_posts” in order to determine if the user should have plugin admin privileges. If you make sure your role has that capability, the menu items should be visible. There is some possibility the User Role Editor plugin is interfering with my role checks, I may have to look into that.

The capability “manage_posts” isn’t even an option with that plugin, so I don’t know how to add it. After deleting User Role Editor, I’m still encountering the problem.

Any other ideas as to why I can’t see all the plugin options? Is there a way to delete an entry in the database from the list?

    Thanks

The problem with role modifying plugins is that they have to specifically undo the changes, just deactivating them (and sometimes deleting) doesn’t revert the roles and capability changes.

And I was wrong about the “manage_posts” capability, I meant to write “manage_options”
