Facebook scrape is providing “missing og:image” even though it is set in 3 places. I deactivated all plugins so its not a conflict issue.
    – featured image set in wordpress
    – facebook image replacement in yoast
    – wordpress page default image when no image is present

Not just 1 post, has now happened with 2 new posts consecutively.

  • Same. Seems to be an issue in the latest release and on fresh WP websites only. Oddly enough, older websites work well.

    I’ve also tried the following:
    – Adding the image as a Facebook default in Yoast
    – Setting it as featured image in WP
    – Setting it within Yoast SEO settings in a page/post separately

We’re running into this on home page only, posts seem to be getting set ok via Yoast Social Settings. Home page we have an og:image set in Yoast Social Setting for FB, but it’s not generating the og: image tags, it is generating twitter:image tags.

This is with Yoast SEO 7.5.1 and WP 4.9.6

Weird, I’m running the Facebook Sharing Debugger on posts and there still says no image when there is via Yoast Social Settings.

Can you please confirm if the issue is happening on static homepage frontpage as described in this reported issue?

No it does not happen there. Homepage pulls up correct image set. Only removing og image from posts (has happened on 3 new posts now).

I just tested this with an older post and it did not do this. It is on new posts created since this bug started.

We apologize for any inconvenience. Can you please show us some example URLs where the issue remains occurring for you so that we can take a look at them?

In addition, please make sure that you are using an image which is big enough to show on Facebook. The minimum image size is 200 x 200 pixels. You can find more information about the image size on here.

    Images are 1367 x 2048

It’s not picking it up in both the WordPress featured image nor the Yoast Facebook Sharing image replacement. Just says no image at all.

    – The ‘og:image’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.
    – The following required properties are missing: og:image

Any updates on this? I’d love to get this fixed as I am a wedding photographer and wedding season kicks off this weekend. Looks super unprofessional on Facebook when they’re all showing the little previews of me instead of the blog post’s image. TIA!

    Hi @nicoleamanda,

Unfortunately, we could not find what might be causing it, everything else seem to be in order except the og:image.

Please perform a conflict check in order to find out if the issue persists even when all of your plugins (except Yoast SEO) and theme. This will help us understand if the issue is on Yoast SEO’s side, or caused by a conflict.

Please inform us of the results.

I had already done this. It still occurs.

Hey Nicole, try reinstalling Yoast version 7.4. This has fixed the issue for me.

Uninstall and reinstall (will I lose settings & previously done post settings?) or just install over top? Thanks!

Hmm just found this. I always update my plugins but maybe it didn’t update fully.

    7.4.2

    Release Date: May 3rd, 2018

    Bugfixes:

Fixes automatic image size detection for OpenGraph images. When an image was used that was too large, we wouldn’t output the og:image tag. That is now fixed.
Fixes a bug where portrait images where not allowed for the OpenGraph image.

@nicoleamanda Performing a manual update of the plugin will not result in losing your data or settings as those are stored in the database. If you need to perform a manual update we have instructions on how to upgrade the plugin manually at the following link: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-can-i-update-my-free-plugin/#manual. You will need an FTP program such as FileZilla and your FTP details, which can be obtained from your host provider.

Once you updated to version 7.5.1 can you confirm whether the issue is still occurring?
