My website was working just fine till an hour ago, and then I get this message on the screen: Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress.

I’m not sure why this has happening, maybe the recent wordpress update? I have no technical knowledge and I don’t understand how to fix it. Please help!!

  • That can happen if you upload a “php.ini” file that’s intended for Windows servers instead of Linux servers, or maybe your hosting company changed something on you.

If you’re not technical to begin with, I’d suggest contacting your hosting company anyways…

Incidentally, this very likely has nothing at all to do with the Wordfence plugin – which is where you posted this question!

Thank you, I did call them and they fixed it in a second, the php version had gotten altered, most likely because of the automatic update. I had actually started a new topic for this, not sure how the Wordfence plugin came into the picture!

    Hi Gayatri (@the-muffin-top),

Thanks for letting us know. I’m glad you’ve got that fixed!
