Missing Links (Blogroll) and Header on WPMU Site 3

Links isn’t ‘missing’ it was removed in 3.5 (new sites don’t get Links).

What error do you get with the header image? Right click on the image and view source.

I don’t get an error, it just doesn’t show up. That’s the weird thing. I can upload pictures to the site with no issues, its just this bloody header? After 7 hours of screwing with it and recreating it 13 times I gave up!

So as far as the Links go…did they grandfather that option into “old sites” because my site 2 (sub 2) has it? Thats what confused me.

Is there another option for links/blogrolls? I can write the HTML for it if I have to but why do that if I don’t need to ??

found the links Question so never mind on that….now to figure out this header. I can deal with not having it, it was just custom text, but its bugging me.

ok I am wondering if there is something in the code that has to change because I know it use to point to the ms-files and according to the 3.5 updates that has changed?

Multisite: switch_to_blog() is now used in more places, is faster, and more reliable.
You can now use multisite in a subdirectory, and uploaded files no longer go through ms-files (for new installs).

Nothing is there to right click on. (no missing image link [?]…nothing)

If I select to not have the header text, nothing is there. The image is in my media library.

OK I think what is happening is that my files are not being read properly.

I have upgraded since my first sub-dom was created and I am reading that they no longer write to the blog.dir however it appears that everything is still going there on my install.

Any suggestions as to how to fix all of this without doing a reinstall? I know if I do I will screw this up royally!

No, that is incorrect (but I know why you thought that). If your Multisite was created PRE 3.5, you use blogs.dir and will continue to do so ?? If you start Multisite on 3.5, you use /uploads/.

Looking at your source code and CSS, there’s nothing in there that calls an image.

Which other tempplates? Have you tested with TwentyEleven?

It’s been a couple months since this thread was updated, but out of hundreds of semi-related Multisite issues, this is the only one I can find that is similar to mine.

I have multisite 3.5.1. It’s brand new. I can add new sites and map the domains ok now (took me about a straight 10 hours to figure it out but finally got it).

Images upload and work fine in posts and pages. But I have ONE subdomain that will not display the header image. It’s just this one site. The image is uploaded and renders just fine in a browser by itself. The path to the image is published fully in style.css. All other images seem to work except this one image.

I guess what’s killing me about this (and why even after reading dozens and dozens of threads I can’t figure it out) is that the only image I can find that’s not showing up is just this one header image.

No problems here at all. I can’t imagine it’s an htaccess issue or a server issue, as the problem wouldn’t be isolated to just this one header image if that was the case.

I moved the image from the theme folder over to the media folder to see if that helped. Admittedly just stabbing in the dark at this point. File uploads fine, url path renders the image just fine in a browser. Put the full url in stylesheet to remove any and all possibilities of it not showing up. Still doesn’t show up.
