Missing Jetpack widgets

    I am setting up a new site and have been trying to incorporate a few Jetpack widgets. I have enabled the “Make extra widgets available…” setting under Jetpack/Settings/Writing.

    Most of the Jetpack widgets are listed in the blocks (e.g. authors, blog stats, cookies & consents, top posts & pages), but six are not. The ones I need are in this missing group: instagram, social icons, contact info & map, google+ badge, image, and twitter timeline.

    Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your help.

    Hello @currentpatterns,

    Have you checked the “Legacy Widget” block? You can find it among the other widget blocks. I took a screenshot of it from my test site:

    The Contact Info & Maps widget can be found now as separate widget blocks, and we have two Instagram different widgets on the widget block lists; we have retired Google+ and Twitter Timeline. The image widget is on the widget block list, but not as Jetpack block (so it’s not green as the other Jetpack widgets.)

    Any widget you can’t find or can’t be activated is not available anymore, unless:
    – You already have it installed on your site, in which case it remains available and active on your site.
    – You use the Classic Widgets plugin to disable the block-based widget editor and go back to old widgets.

    Thanks for the response. I did find the Legacy widget, though it did not offer me anything different than what I could already see. I did not realize that the green signified Jetpack – I thought Jetpack in parentheses was the indicator. I guess from your response that “Social Icons” is also no longer available.

    FYI, the documentation for “Extra Sidebar Widgets” is out of date.

    As Stef said, we’ve retired some widgets, made some into blocks to better support the Block Editor and Full Site Editor, and retained others as legacy widgets. Any widget you can’t find is no longer available.

    FYI, the documentation for “Extra Sidebar Widgets” is out of date.

    Thanks for catching that the “Extra Sidebar Widgets” documentation could use some updates. We’ve already made a note internally to make sure we get that fixed up.
