    Hi there

A new customer has contacted me, because they have some problems with their website.

All images between 2019 and 2023 is gone from the website, they use Smush Pro, but that’s not something they have installed themself, it could be a older webdesigner who has installed it and set it up, so my customer has no login or licens. And we fear that the licens has expired or something like that.

The former webdesigner has ticked the “Do not backup original images”, so now we fear that they are all gone. When we look in the folders, all images are gone. And even if we go back into the backup, it’s the same with the images – gone ??

Is there anything we can do to get the optimized images from the CDN server?

    Hi @dominoevers,

Sorry to hear about that, however, please do note that Smush doesn’t have any feature to delete any images nor does switching from the Pro to the Free version remove any images. The Pro features will get disabled when switched to a Free version of Smush.

However, any of these behaviours will not remove any images. So the issue mentioned doesn’t sound to have been caused by Smush.

The “Backup original images” feature will create a .bak image before the image is compressed. If it’s disabled, it won’t create a .bak image, other than that the mentioned feature shouldn’t perform any other action.

I noticed a lot of errors regarding CDN, which can be disabled under the Smush Pro > Smush CDN Page.

If you can confirm that the images aren’t present in the actual server path then I’m afraid there isn’t much that could be done other than using a backup.

The site is using the latest Pro version of Smush and is still connected with our API, so if they have concerns regarding the Pro version would recommend getting in touch with their devs.

Please note that this forum is meant for the free version of Smush, so what we could support with Pro versions are limited.

    Kind Regards,

    Nithin

We haven’t heard from you for some time now, so it looks like you don’t have more questions for us.

Feel free to re-open this topic if needed.
