When I run tests on WebPage Test, in the waterfall I see that 2 fonts are missing and returning a 404 error code.

    They are wp-content/plugins/social-pug/assets/dist/socialpug.1.0.0.woff
    And this one wp-content/plugins/social-pug/assets/dist/socialpug.1.0.0.ttf

We are using the latest version of the plugin.

Please advise best way to fix.

  • Hey @blogaid,

Thanks so much for reaching out and for providing that example! I took a look at the page you needed assistance with and it looks like when I add a query string to the end of the URL (for example ?test=1234) this serves us a non-optimized and non-cached page that works great and doesn’t load those font files.

After digging a bit deeper, it looks like you have some Critical CSS being served by WP Rocket that makes reference to the two missing fonts being shown. It’s likely this Critical CSS could have been generated when we did use these font files at one point in time.

If you’d like, feel free to give regenerating the Critical CSS a try within WP Rocket then clearing out any caching in the plugin to see if that fixes things up!

Thank you so much for the quick reply!!

I’ll have my client regenerate the critical CSS and we’ll purge cache everywhere.

    Hey @blogaid,

Definitely my pleasure to be of assistance! Feel free to keep us posted on how it goes and if you run into any further issues. ??

    Hey there,

It’s been awhile since we’ve heard from you so we’re going to go ahead and close this topic. If you run into any further issues please feel free to open a new thread!

We just finished all of our other fixes and cleared all caches yesterday, plus regenerated the critical CSS. That seems to have fixed it!!
    Thank you for your help
