• First let me say I really like this plugin and hope it continues to be developed.. Excellent. I am currently testing the format for which twitter likes and allows the length. What I have noticed is that it is cutting off the first few words of the excerpt no matter how short I make it.

    You can see this by going to my site and clicking the twitter link at the top. There is only one post I have been working on..

    I was wondering if you might take a look at it and maybe help me fix my problem. Thanks in advance

    Actually I tried to change the permalink to make it shorter and by making it shorter now the first word on the excerpt is being included with the link to the post. I made 3 different posts on twitter for you to see. I will leave them there in hopes it help this out.

    Thanks

    Please make sure that you are adding excerpt content to WordPress’s Excerpt field at posts. Otherwise the plugin will use the first 50 words from post content.
    Also make sure that Twitter character limit is set to 280 and add a space after {PERMALINK} message format at Twitter settings of WP Twitter Auto Publish.
    Hope this helps.

    Hello there and thanks for the reply.

    Who would have thought that little space after the permalink would have done this.. lol. you!

    Where does the image come from to populate the excerpt. Is that the featured image? Is there any other way to make the image be the same for all posts?

    If you look at the post I just did, link is working.. Is there any way to not have the text be there twice? I tried with both no image and image also

    Thanks

    I still would like to know if there might be a way for you to allow us to choose one image in the settings that would always be used in the post to twitter when you say yes to add image. However, this should be able to be overridden if you post a featured image from the post or the page.

    Right now I have it almost exactly the way I want it. Just a lot of trial and error and making sure you change the default settings and refresh the post page before updating again. It took some time but the outcome is getting to be perfect.. Thanks

    The link in tweet will take 23 characters in tweet (whether you provide a short or long url).
    So you can add the message format like,
    {POST_TITLE}
    {PERMALINK}
    This will display a preview like the tweet in your timeline.
    The tweet “

    Horseradish Rocks! –

    ” is following the format
    {POST_TITLE} -{PERMALINK}
    The twitter algorithms will replace link with preview(if your message format or tweet text contains link) ,so remove the

    from message format .
    You are setting og tags and twitter cards at your site but it is missing og:image and twitter:image tags.
    So in your seo settings you should add a default image url, so that if no images are associated with the post the default url is added as preview.
    If image is added as featured image or image in post content field then it will be added instead of this default image url.
    Hope this help.
