I am trying to move to a new host & am missing files in my new hosts file manager/legacy file manager.

What I did is home backup & mysql backups from old host. Went into new host backup & uploaded them there. They both showed successful. The home backup shows in there with the same name, but the wordpress files aren’t in there (I do see them in phpmyadmin though). Did I do something wrong?

Another tutorial showed me to add wordpress first, which I did & that made it’s own db as well. Was I not supposed to do that since I was uploading? That install doesn’t show in filemanager either.

Thank you anyone that can help!!

    Thank you for the link.

I can’t follow the instructions, since I have to use my last backup from my old host that I saved through backup in cpanel. I was hacked & my old host still didn’t put me back up yet.

Should I delete the databases & start over & try & install again through backup & restore in cpanel?

    Thank you again!

What version of WordPress were you running when that backup was made?

I am not sure, it was a couple updates ago. I think before 3? Is there a way for me to look it up?

Also, this is the tutorial I was using https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ud2SCit5b40&feature=related

In your .sql backup file, look for the value in the wp-options table under the option name db_version.

Strange, but that says 15477. Does that make sense?

Yes. It means that you were using WordPress 3.0 when you made that backup. Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress 3.0.5.

How do I do that? I am so not tech savy (I wish I was). I try reading up a lot, but it becomes so overwhelming. Thank you so much. I really appreciate your time!!

You will need to use FTP (or whatever file management application your host provides) to upload WP 3.0.5 to your remote server.

    (@wld2)

    So I delete the databases

Then download the WordPress 3.0.5 to my computer,

Then FTP that version of WP to the host

Then reupload all files & folders (is it Ok to do that through backup & restore like I originally did)?

    Thank you so much again!!

Honestly, I feel really silly, but I don’t know how to do that.

As a site owner, you really need to learn how to use FTP. Otherwise, your only other option is to hire someone to carry out the work for you.

Thank you for the advice. I’m trying to learn, so I don’thave to ask for help or bother anyone ??

I have used filezilla before, just needed to find the right tutorial. I’m sure once I see, then I will get it & be easier to understand

I really appreciate when people take the time like you did. I’m sure you are really busy ??
