Missing event information in Google Calendar link

    Hi there,

    how can I make sure that in the Google Calendar entry the event description and the venue (link) is added as well? Right now it only shows the title & date & time, which is not very helpful since the user needs to access a link on the date of the event.

    Is there a way to add these information to the Google calendar URL?

  • Hi there,

    The text in the description of the event should carry over I believe, but it’s not possible to make links work. So if you have a link in the event that says “click here” then in the Google event, it will just be text that says “click here” but it won’t be a link anymore.

    Unfortunately there’s nothing we can do about that.

    Can you provide a link to your calendar, I’d like to add it to my Google calendar to test the description.

    I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue. I haven’t been able to replicate this issue on my end, as the function is working as expected. With that in mind, let’s explore what could be going on with your setup.

    Can you link me to your WordPress calendar so that I can try subscribing and see if the description loads on my end?

    When clicking on the Google Cal. link, it only adds the title of the event, not the description.

    I just had a chat with the development team. Turns out this is a known issue that we’re currently investigating.

    I don’t have any kind of ETA but we will followup with this thread once the issue has been fixed.

    Just wanted to let you know with our latest release of The Events Calendar 5.14.2, we resolved an issue with Google Calendar links to include the event description if it exists.. Be sure to review our Release Notes for more details and update your plugin at your earliest convenience. As always, we recommend testing updates on a staging site first, but it should all be smooth sailing.
