    Hello,

I have a problem with the idea submit form.

Some of my colleagues have an email field in the idea submit form – I do not have this field.

I tried it on different computer and different browser (also in incognito mode) but I don’t see the email field. I also do not see a firstname or lastname field in form.

Is it because I published an idea before and the system “noticed” my ip address?

    I read this:

Although guests from their perspective will appear to be guests, what actually is happening is a user account will be created for them in WordPress with the user role ‘IdeaPush Guest’ which is assigned to the visitors IP Address.

So if I have the same ip address then the website/wordpress/ideapush noticed me as guest user an I don’t have to login or to set name/email in form to publish a new idea?

Thanks for some help with this!

    Best regards,

    Timo

The answer is yes. Thanks @iparker

    Thanks for your quick reply.

So the right way for test cases is to delete the guest-user?

    Hi @iparker,

It depends on what you are trying to test, but yeah what you said sounds right, if you delete a guest user (and that was the account tied to your IP address), then the other fields should appear. Thanks ??

Thanks again for your quick reply!

Let me ask one more question: I just turned the “Multiple IPs”-setting to yes. But I don’t see any change on the site.

Can you explain the impact of this setting to me?

Sorry – I have to ask another aspect:

When I create an idea as a guest user I have to set an email for this.

Now the case: I want to create another idea from another device/ip. In this case I get the error that the account/email already exists.

But the guest user has no login and should not login.

So how can this be solved?

    Hi @iparker,

The setting is explained at the bottom of the board settings.

By default IdeaPush prevents people creating multiple user accounts with the same IP address to prevent vote rigging. However this may not work for you especially if you have a work network with a shared IP address where employees vote for example. So in this case please set this setting to yes.

But essentially it means the IP tracking is not enforced so you can log in and out of the same account on different devices.

On your second question, this has been asked before. Typically when people enable the multiple IP setting they are working with a site with existing users and roles which already have passwords. However for guest users they can just reset their password via the WordPress login page.

    Thanks for your quick reply!

So the only correct way is that the guest users request a password and login via the wordpress login page (if the user wants to login from another device)?

I wish the would be a workaround for kind of “plain guest posting” without email/user creation.

I understand, it’s critical though that the plugin has a means of preventing vote and idea rigging so this is why we create users. With that said, for a user to create an idea they just need to enter in their name, email the first time. They don’t need to know they have an account.
