    Hi there,

First of I have 2920 products with issues.

So I used the plugin to import/sync my products with google merchant center but it appears to be missing data or not mapping it correctly.

It says I have the following data missing:

Brand – I don’t have that anywhere on my site but where can I update this all of these fields manually?

GTIN, UPC, EAN, JAN or ISBN – I have this data on the product pages but it has put them into the item ID for some reason?

Shipping – It said my shipping data was missing but I have it in there and it ties to an items shipping price based on it’s weight and destination. Sadly, to fix this I had to give an over priced fixed shipping rate.

Is there any help you can provide me to fix these issues?

I am going to provide some further information on this below.

The video shows the sections with missing data and the SKU data I already have. There is no way to import a file to map this data out that I can see. Can anyone advise?

    Hi @mmk175,

Thank you for reaching us! I’m here from your other thread as promised. And I’ll be happy to help you!

Brand – I don’t have that anywhere on my site but where can I update this all of these fields manually?

Google for WooCommerce does not automatically set the brand attribute on products. If the?WooCommerce Brands extension?is installed, a new option will display for the brand attribute under the “Google Listings and Ads” tab on the product edit page. Each product can then be edited and have its brand attribute set to “From WooCommerce Brands”.

We are looking to make bulk attribute management easier and add additional support for extensions. If this interests you or you have ideas/feature requests?please let us know.

GTIN, UPC, EAN, JAN or ISBN – I have this data on the product pages but it has put them into the item ID for some reason?

For this I think this guide can be helpful: https://woocommerce.com/document/google-listings-and-ads/faqs/#how-do-i-set-identifier-exists-identifier-exists-to-false-no. Please use the fields in the Google for WooCommerce tab, not the newly added field in the Inventory tab.

Shipping – It said my shipping data was missing but I have it in there and it ties to an items shipping price based on it’s weight and destination. Sadly, to fix this I had to give an over priced fixed shipping rate.

From the wording, it seems you were using a third-party plugin to handle weight-based shipping, correct? This isn’t compatible with Google for WooCommerce and thus would not sync the shipping options to Google Merchant Center. Using the default WooCommerce shipping options would fix that, yeah. That’d be the solution for it at this time.

I hope this helps so far!

    Hi @omarfpg

Thanks for getting back to me. Over the weekend I have discovered that all the products I imported to GMC are appearing as active. Since I was just testing and waiting for support I only manually edited a few products but the majority are missing a brand and a GTIN. You can see this below.

    https://prnt.sc/xAu9Ig5Z8WMg

However, all of them have fix suggestions of some sort that relate to the gtin and brand name etc.

Question: Would it be ok to leave these for the time being? I think by the time I get through these manually some of the products will be out of stock or no longer sold in the store.

    Back to the original replay.

Thanks for the plugin information and the doc on the gtim false. I will give those a review now and hopefully get the products fixed.

Your time and help is greatly appreciated as always.

    Hi @omarfpg

I think there may be a mapping option available actually. If I go to marketing within the wordpress dashboard I can click on attributes > create attribute rule and assign GTIN (target attribute) a data source / default value which in this case would be product:sku.

I think it’s working. The sync takes time.

One final question, maybe you can’t answer but, when it comes to the brand. Should it be my brand name or the brand name of the product I am selling? I buy a lot of good from a distributor who has their brand name on the products not mine which is fine.

    Kind Regards

Yes, you can assign any supported product attributes as GTIN source. More info: https://woocommerce.com/document/google-for-woocommerce/attribute-mapping/

It depends on the context. However, it’s typically best to use the actual brand of the product. This is the name your customers will recognize and search for.

Please note that the Google for WooCommerce plugin does not automatically set this. You can use either WooCommerce Brands plugin or you can manually add the brand attribute for each product under the Google for WooCommerce tab on the product edit page.

I hope this provides some clarity. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

    Hi @shameemreza

Thanks for taking the time to get back to me. This support community is the best and I really appreciate everyone’s time.

Regarding the attribute mapping. Yes I have found this and since I used it, pretty much all the “missing gtin/brand” messages have gone. But strangely some of them still appear. It’s like either wordpress/woo or GMC just isn’t taking the data over. And the SKUs are in place like every other product. And I made the brand name a fixed value so.

Strange, but maybe just a bug we have to put up with?

Please note that the Google for WooCommerce plugin does not automatically set this. – I was able to achieve this by using the mapping feature picking out a fixed value.

You’re correct. Currently, it doesn’t automatically set the brand name as a fixed value. Your workaround of using the mapping feature to pick a fixed value is indeed the solution.

I’m glad the attribute mapping helped resolve most of the “missing gtin/brand” messages. However, I understand that you are still encountering some issues. It’s possible that a few products might not be syncing correctly for some reason. Can you please force-sync all the products and see whether they make any difference?

    • Go to this debug page: example.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=connection-test-admin-page (replace example.com with your domain)
    • Scroll down and use the Sync All Products tool.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or need further clarification. We’re here to help!

Force Sync – I knew I read this somewhere when I was initially checking out the plugin but for the life of me I couldn’t figure out where it wwas.

    Thanks for this.
