    Update:
    The backup ran twice yesterday.
Once at the scheduled time, and again at a random time a couple of hours earlier.
I’ll update again later today and see if the same thing happens or not.

Something is wrong with your WordPress Cron system, so the backup job got scheduled incorrectly.

I would suggest you first try to completely uninstall the BackWpUp plugin first, then install it again.

In case it does not get fixed, please use another Cron service like online Cron or your hosting Cron to trigger the job.

You can do that by setting a trigger backup job with a link, and then passing the link to the cron service!

    Hi
    Thanks for your speedy reply.

The backup worked last night at the time I set, even though those two cron events still don’t have an action.

Should I make the changes you recommended or leave well alone?!

Happy to know that it working now but just in case the issue happens again, you can try with my suggestion!
