    Hi,

I uploaded Koji to my current website (mrschinphotography.com) and unfortunately, 90% of my content went missing. I really wanted to do this change because I know that Koji is Gutenburg compatible, and I also love the clean airy feel to it, especially since I already use a grid layout. Unfortunately, I had to have my web host restore my old site, because I had nothing but featured images for most of my posts. Not sure how to resolve this… I want the change, but I’d like to keep several years worth of work, as well.

There was nothing consistent about what info was lost or kept, that I could see. My latest post was showing, as well as several from 2014, but most of my posts in between were MIA.

Is there something I can do about this?

    Thank you so much.

    Hi @mschrisc,

It looks like the content on your current site is built with some sort of custom page builder. The content you’ve created with it will probably not work with any WordPress theme other than your current one, and possibly other themes by the same company.

For the content to be displayed correctly in other themes, you’ll need to move all of your content from the page builder used by your current theme into Gutenberg. It would be a pretty extensive migration. I’d recommend you to get in touch with the developers of your current theme (Prollective) to see if they have any recommendations.

Thanks so much for getting back to me… I was afraid of that. I just find it puzzling that some of the content worked with it, but most not so much. I’ve already spent the time to copy & paste the content to migrate it over… it’ll be a pain, and hopefully it will look okay once done.

I was also curious to know if it’s possible to put a dynamic gallery into a post… I have quite a few images in many of my posts and would love to display them in a unique way.

I’m also curious to know what is the best size for images with this theme.

Thanks so much for your help!

Writing again since I’ve attempted updating my data via Gutenberg into the Koji theme—I’m finding I can’t, simply because the ‘+’ button to add content doesn’t seem to be working, unless I want my post to be just one paragraph and no images… that’s not my style. I find this puzzling since I started to create a new post in Gutenberg on Tuesday, before my website was restored and all seemed to be working well. I don’t get why it’s not working now and I’m getting very frustrated.

    Hi @mschrisc,

Sorry about the hassle – that’s the danger in using custom page builders. The Block Editor (Gutenberg) includes a Gallery block that you can use to display your images in a grid. You can also use the Slideshow block included in Jetpack, if you have Jetpack installed. The featured image in Koji maxes out at 1870 wide. If your images are larger than that, Koji will create a version of them in the right width when they’re uploaded to your site.

Re your latest post, that sounds like a plugin conflict or something similar – there’s nothing in Koji to cause that issue. I’d recommend you to try disabling all of your plugins one at a time, and see if any of them seems to be the cause.

Oh dear… I tried that, too—no dice. I’m just surprised that I got it to work before it was restored, and now the only thing that works is the classic editor. My main point in changing was to use the new editor.
