    Hi,

Unfortunately I stumbled upon another bug. I am using a custom post type with some required fields in combination with the classic editor. When I don’t fill out all of the required fields and hit Publish or Update, that button disappears. So after filling out the highlighted blank fields, there is no way to retry.

When disabling the Statuses plugin it works fine. So I tried setting the Gutenberg/Classic Editor setting to Classic instead of Automatic, but that doesn’t make a difference. I also tried switching from Sequence by Default to Bypass and vice versa, still no luck.

Sorry to bother you again, thanks for your help!

@ldwd What plugin are you using to define the custom fields?

    Hi @ldwd

    Thanks for using our plugin.

Just to confirm, this issue only happens on custom post type? And does not happen on regular posts/pages?

    Thanks,

    Hi @kevinb and @rizaardiyanto,

It happens on regular pages with classic editor as well.

I used custom fields from ACF and/or HivePress:
    – custom post type with HivePress and ACF
    – regular page with ACF only

Edit: when no custom status is assigned to the post type the button does not disappear on that post type.

@ldwd Today’s PublishPress Statuses 1.0.6.5 release includes a fix for this ACF conflict / required field recovery issue.

    @kevinb
Thank you for the quick update.

I can confirm that the issue with ACF is resolved. But when a required custom field from HivePress is left blank there IS a button now, but it is disabled (and reads Publish instead of Update in case of a published post).

Can you fix this as well please?

Edit: while the issue with ACF is resolved, that button also reads Publish instead of Update for published posts. Just fyi ??

@ldwd How are you making HivePress fields required? When I add a custom field to a HivePress Listing with ACF, recovery from missing required fields is correct.

@ldwd I found how to define a HivePress “Attribute” and make is required, but I’m not seeing the Update button error. What WordPress and Classic Editor versions are your running? Can you experiment with deactivating other plugins to see if there is an interaction?

@kevinb I really appreciate your effort to look into it.

I use WP 6.4.3. I tried disabling other plugins and activating Twenty Twenty-Three theme, but no luck.

I don‘t use the Classic Editor plugin, the classic editor is added/activated by HivePress.

    What else could I try?

@ldwd Can you replicate it on an instawp.com site, then go to publishpress.com and contact us with the login link?

@kevinb I just did some tests.

    – If I remove the HivePress listing post type from my custom status (disabling the status is not sufficient), the button works fine.

    – I looked around in the plugin files. If I remove this script, the button works fine too:
    publishpress-statuses/common/js/classic-edit.js

@kevinb Ah we were commenting at the same time ??
If the above info is not what helps you pinpoint this issue I can certainly give it a try at instawp.com (have not heard of it before, so I will look into it).

@ldwd Actually, your last reply did help me notice something that was missing in my test configuration. So yes, I replicated the issue.

@kevinb Yes! Updating to 1.0.6.6 solved the problem ??

    Thank you so much!
