I backup to Dropbox and recently went looking for a recent backup to restore the site after a hack. I noticed that there were backups for last year up to May, then nothing until two days ago. Anyone know what’s going on? Is this an Updraft problem or part of the hack?

    Hi,

UpdraftPlus will only retain a set number of backups, as configured in the backup schedule options. What are these options set to?

Do the backups appear in the Existing Backups tab?
If so, could you send us some of the backup log files? The contents will be too long to post here directly, but you can use an online service such as Pastebin, and post the links here.

It was configured for two, but I’ve since changed that to 10. But it seems odd that old ones were there and then there was a gap with nothing – in both Dropbox and locally.

The Existing Backups tab shows the same as Dropbox – so, the one I did this afternoon and then seven from 2015 up to May 2016.

There seems to be an error with the log file, but I’ve copied the text. Not sure about pasting a link to that anywhere public…I’m very squeamish after today!!

    Hi,

It appears that the last two backups were retained as set, with the older backups being deleted.

I would guess that the remaining backups from before May were not in UpdraftPlus’ records (or marked as from a different site), so were not pruned as part of the backup process.
