• I don’t know if this is a bug or a feature in twenty sixteen theme (it also happens in twenty fifteen), but the behavior with default menu was different (and better, at least for me) in twenty fourteen.

In a completely new installation, wp 4.5.2, just after created 3 test pages, if I activate twenty fourteen theme, the 3 pages appear automatically in the “default” upper menu.

If I change one to be a child of other, the menu updates automatically.

If I activate twenty sixteen theme, there is no “default” upper menu at all.

I know I can create a menu and set it to auto update (just top level pages), but I prefer to “control” the menu items just by “controlling” the pages, ie. order, parent-child, etc. I use “simple-page-ordering” plugin for this and it works without problems in twenty fourteen theme.

In twenty sixteen, creating a menu and setting it to auto update doesn’t approach the easy and automatic behavior of twenty fourteen.

Is there any way to add this twenty fourteen behavior to twenty sixteen?

I use a child theme, so I can modify functions, templates or whatever is necessary.

    Thanks!

    Alberto
