Missing Admin Menu Items and Insufficient Permissions
-
When I log in to my dashboard, most of the menu items on the left side column are missing: Posts, Pages, Links, Comments, Appearance, Plugins, Tools. (possibly others). There are some theme-specific items still there, Users, Settings, and the Media library. When I click on any of the menu items, I get a ‘You don’t have sufficient permissions to access this page.’ error. The online site appears fine.
Since my client is the one who was making changes when this happened, I am not sure what he did directly before the issue. My guess is that he updated to 3.5…but that is only a guess because I think the theme was also recently updated as well as possibly a calendar plug in. Here is what I have tried:
1.) reinstalling 3.5 both auto and manual
2.) disabled all plug-ins via FTP
3.) updated theme (after menu issue)
4.) checked theme change-log; fully compatible with 3.5
5.) replaced wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of 3.5 via FTP
6.) added a new user with admin level access to see if it was a role/access issueWhat I have not tried yet:
1.) switching to twentyeleven…I can’t access my Appearance menu so I’m nervous to delete my theme and child theme from the folders in case I can’t restore them. (or re-activate the correct theme.)I’ve googled and searched the support forums here for hours. The only similar issues I can find are from years ago. Thanks for any help!!
