Misleading – Worthless Unless PRO Version
-
This is one of those “nagware” style plugins where you install it and it shows you a ton of options, but only 10% of those options are usable unless you upgrade to the PRO version. I absolutely hate plugins like that, ugh!! Waste of time to install.

Hello cwendt
I am sorry that you feel you have been ‘mislead’ by the plugins description that you would have read before you downloaded WP Email template.
If you would not mind telling me (as I wrote the description) what part of the description has mislead you?
I went to a lot of trouble to clearly spell out in the description what the Lite Version features are and what the Pro Version features are. Perhaps you can offer some advise on how I might improve that.
Re this
Worthless Unless Pro version…….
but only 10% of those options are usable unless you upgrade to the PRO version.Lets just take a look at that
There are 2 menus on the plugin – Template and Send WP Emails.
On the Send WP Email menu it allows users to configure an email sender other than their local sender –
* The local sender option enables user to leave the sender as the default or for those who host on Go daddy to with the flick of a switch make their WordPress local host compatible with godaddy hosting.
* For those who want to configure a more trusted sender there are SMTP, Gmail SMTP and Mandrill SMTP or API settings plus testemail send and full debug report if something goes wrong.
All of those settings are activated in the lite version – that is 100%
Now lets look at the Template Settings
The first menu is [General] – on that tab ALL of the features are active in the lite version – They include these setting boxes and their settings
+ Plugin Framework Global Settings – these include Settings for
* Open Box Display – allows you to customize the way that the setting boxes show on the admin panel to the admins preference
* Google API connection – Allows admin to connect directly to Google fonts via their API to always have the latest fonts.
* House Keeping – Clean up on deletion of the plugin so it leaves nothing behind if and when deleted.
* Advanced Features Setting Boxes – a full explanation of how the Setting Boxes work on the lite version+ WP Email Template Activation – this setting allows admin to use the plugin to set up WP Email Sender – but not use the template if they so wish
+ Template Width – Allows the admin to set a custom width for the template
+ Template Background – Set a background colour and plus switch ON | OFF the transparent .png background pattern
+ Outlook 2007 / 2010 / 2013 Box Border – Switched ON will show a white box border around email Template in Outlook. Outlook does not support border colour, size or type. Any Border style created with the dynamic settings will not show in Outlook.
+ WooCommerce Configuration – Option to apply the template style to all WooCommerce emails for consistent branding of all email from the site.
Now lets take a look at the next tab – [Header Image] – All settings on this tab are active in the lite version – these are the setting boxes
+ Header Image – Upload a custom email template header image and align the image
+ Header Image Container – Set margin and padding – Top, bottom, left, right and the header image background colour
+ Image Container Borders – Set header image border – Size, Type and colour for top border, left border, right border and bottom border. Border corner style – square or round – with independent settings for each corner – Top right, top left, bottom right, bottom left.
Ok so now lets look at the next tab – [Email Title]
On this tab there are 3 setting boxes – All 3 are Advanced setting and available in the Pro Version – they setting boxes headers are a green background colour so that admin can easily identify that they are advanced features and are activated by upgrading to the Pro version
Ok so lets look at the next tab [Content] – on this tab there are 4 Setting boxes and they are all Advanced Options available by upgrading to the Pro Version
The next tab is [ Footer ] – The footer tab includes
+ Email Footer Content – This setting allows the admin to add custom content to the email template footer – we have included the WordPress text editor to give admins full flexibility in uploading content including the WordPress media uploader.
On that tab there are then Advanced features available in the Pro Version upgrade – they are not required – but features that can be used if the admin wants to create advanced styles – they are
+ Email Footer Content Font
+ Footer Container
+ Footer Container BordersThe next tab is – [Social Media] – this tab allows the admin to add follow us on numerous social media by adding links to their social media sites – Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Linkedin, Google +
There is another setting box on that tab that is an Advanced feature – the ability to upload custom social media icons.
The last tab is [Exclude Emails ] – There are 2 ways to exclude emails from having the template applied – they are by shortcode or by the email subject title – both these features are advanced Pro Version features.
So lets look at your statement
only 10% of those options are usable unless you upgrade to the PRO version.
It is actually easy to see if that is a fact or not – each setting box is a feature so lets cont them-
Lite Version activated Settings – 17
Pro Version Settings – 14In total their are 31 Setting Boxes (features) 17 or those are active in the Lite Version – that is 55%
re this:
I absolutely hate plugins like that, ugh!! Waste of time to install.
cwendt I am sorry that you feel that way – we could easily take out the Pro Version settings from the admin dashboard so that they are not seen – they are left there as a very visual way to show admins what advanced options are available in the Pro version – BUT only if they need them.
We actually have done our best to make it plain what is available why keeping the Pro Version settings ‘out of the way’ of the normal operation of the lite version.
The WP Email Template makes a very attractive email template for any site without the Pro version.
In the above I have not even touched on the host of features that the plugin does ‘out of the box’ with no settings – example
The plugin applies a HTML template to email sent from your WordPress site. The Template is optimized to show your HTML emails perfectly in the10 most popular email browsers.
* Apple iOS Devices
* MS Outlook
* Hotmail
* Apple Mail
* Yahoo! Mail
* Google Gmail
* Android Devices
* Windows Live Desktop
* Mozilla ThunderbirdSome of the better known plugins of the 1,000’s of plugins that WP Email Template works beautifully with.
* Gravity Forms – see the screen shots – looks sensational with the default Gravity style.
* Contact Form 7 – see the screenshots
* Formidable Forms – both Lite and Pro Versions of that plugin
* WooCommerce – Version 2.3.9 and backward compatible to version 2.1.0. By default the plugin ignores WooCommerce email output – but you can choose to apply your WordPress Email Template to all Woocomerce emails to give you consistent branding across your entire site.
* WP e-Commerce – applies the template to every store generated email to customers and admins
* WP Mail SMPT – WP Email Template does not interfere with the way any WordPress or any plugin handles email output – it just applies the template to any output content.
* BackupBuddy – I love it when even my admin emails are branded – see the screenshots
* Wordfence – Branded security emails – nice.cwendt we actually put a lot of time and effort into ensuring that the Lite Version works perfectly for the 4,000+ active user – a quick glance at the changelog will show you that so far this year we have released 12 new versions – that is 2 per month and includes 21 new * Features, 24 x code *Tweaks and 11 x bug *fixes.
If you look at the support forum – you will see that there have been 16 support request – 13 of those are resolved with 3 outstanding – which have only been posted in the last 2 days.
Thanks and look forwarding to hearing from you
Steve
