Misleading Advertising
-
I’ve been using a free version of Wordfence for years, and I’ve been happy with what it offers. I don’t expect companies to work for free for ever, and so it’s understood by myself and thousands of other business owners that the freeware product will not have all the features of a paid subscription.
But my site was hacked while using Wordfence, and so I paid for a Wordfence subscription. I then completed a scan. Instead of helping me fix the problems that were found, Wordfence tried to upsell me to a more expensive solution. This is not what I paid for.
In other words, a paid subscription to Wordfence won’t prevent a problem, it will only allow you to scan for the problems. Then you have to pay hundreds of dollars more for an actual solution.
I find this to be very dishonest of Wordfence, and misleading marketing. That’s not good for a security company, because you need to trust security companies.
