Misleading

I don’t understand why users are describing this plugin in superlatives?! It’s not great, it’s not good, it’s not excellent, it’s none of those things. Let’s start:
STEP 1: Let’s start with the installation, which is “simple”. Then you want to automatically scan cookies and you need to register and connect to their application (website). Then, once you’re there, continue with the online settings. Do you want to look at something on your website, and YOU CAN’T. You’ve lost the settings links. But well, you move on and you finally wanted to disconnect from their app. Done.
STEP 2: Now you have regained control of the plugin on your website. Disappointment. The settings you made online, they don’t exist in your plugin. GONE without a trace.
But okay, you understand how the plugin works and now you have manually made all the settings. After scanning your website on one of the free online services, you simply copy/paste the detected cookies into the plugin, and you’re done.
STEP 3: If that’s all you need, that’s fine. The plugin “can serve its purpose”. If you want something more than that, YOU CAN’T!
If you look at the description of this plugin, you will find under Key features.
Key features:
Automatic scanning: Single-click automatic scanning and categorization of cookies. —> This does NOT EXIST in a standalone plugin installation on your website!
Cookie list: This lets you display the list of cookies neatly in a table on your Privacy & Cookies Policy page by using a shortcode. —> This does NOT EXIST in the plugin on your website.
Consent logging: Log users’ consent and export it into a CSV file. —> This option does NOT EXIST.
Auto-translation: Auto-translate the banner in 30+ languages ??as per the user’s browser language. Compatible with WPML and Polylang. —> Guess what? It DOESN’T EXIST. You can only set one language, you can edit that and nothing more.
A few questions for developers:
- Why does the online application even exist?
- If you changed something, and according to this you changed a lot, why didn’t you add new features to the plugin description.
- If your intention is to rely as much as possible on the online application and make the standalone plugin worthless, then no, thank you.
Finally, if your answer is: “It’s in the paid version”. OK, I agree because I’ve personally experienced it. But where does it say that? That’s misleading the user. Period.
Have a nice day. Regards,
