Missing a description in the product metadata

Our error is listed 5 times but appears to be for just 2 products, as when I hover over the edit link in the report page they link to the same 2 products. Each of those products have a description listed, and I see it in the source, as well as in the feed. So I’m not understanding why we have the errors, unless there’s another description field we are missing that also needs to be supplied? When I go to the Pinterest tab in the Woo product, I only have options for condition and Google category.

Can you please share screenshots of what you see on your screen, for the product descriptions, and the errors? That will help us understand the issue further. Here’s how to make a screenshot:

Furthermore, to get an idea of how your site is configured, could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via ‘WooCommerce > Status’. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

Thanks for sending your status report! It’s possible the description was added using a custom post type. What’s curious here is your other products are displaying with no errors, correct?

Are your other products using Mediavine and shortcodes as well? Can you see any difference between the products which are appearing correctly and the two products giving the errors?

Only 2 products were showing errors. 41 show as active. There are 5 reported errors, but the links went to just 2 products, as mentioned before.

As to your question, the 2 products in question were no different than any others. All content was added the same way. And I don’t believe MediaVine is set to display in the products – just the blog posts.

In checking those issues, and the first error:

White Is Complicated (Variation): Description is missing from product metadata.

From your store itself, I’m not seeing a variation product, though. Is this product hidden or the product on the store: https://mariakillam.com/product/white-is-complicated/ ?

This looks to be the same for How to Choose Paint Colours, as the product does not have any variations in place.

As these products on Pinterest do not look to match your products on the store, I recommend resetting the sync with Pinterest.
You can follow the guide on the Woo documetation, under Product not syncing:

1. Go to Marketing > Pinterest > Settings
2. Uncheck the box for “Enable product sync”
3. Check the box “Erase Plugin Data” and Save
4. Go to the Connection tab on ?Marketing > Pinterest and disconnect your account by clicking on “Disconnect”
5. Deactivate and delete the “Pinterest for WooCommerce” extension.
   — At this point, no feed should be present on /wp-content/uploads, no settings on the table wp-options, no Scheduled actions related to Pinterest, and no feed registered on Pinterest—
6. Reinstall “Pinterest for WooCommerce” in Plugins > Add new
7. Restart the Pinterest onboarding
8. Wait for 24 hours for Pinterest to approve the catalog

Let’s skip running the step to “reinstall” Pinterest for now and we’ll use it as the last resort.

Let’s say you intend to use it a simple product now. Let’s try the following steps:

• Duplicate the affected product: https://mariakillam.com/product/white-is-complicated/
• Rename that duplicated product so you know it’s the duplicated product
• Adjust the detail: https://d.pr/i/4SSh0Y
• Then click update

Typically, the feed file is updated every 10 mins in WooCommerce and pulled by Pinterest every 24 hours to update the catalog on Pinterest. Let’s wait and see if the product is synced well to Pinterest.

If it’s synced, you can hide the old product, and keep this new duplicated product, feel free to swap the title if required
