    Hello,

We have been using the built-in Woocommerce Paypal integration (PayPal Standard) for years but we’re considering moving to this plugin.

We currently have many active subscriptions that renew via Paypal Standard and are wondering about the steps we need to take for the migration.

I find it unlikely this plugin will be able to simply take over from Paypal Standard, so I suspect we’ll have to update the meta records _paypal_subscription_id, _payment_method, _payment_method_title, to something different? Do we need any other changes?

    Hi @subscriptiongroup,

For your particular scenario, I would actually recommend that you keep your existing subscriptions running on the PayPal Standard plugin, and just make all new subscriptions and orders through this plugin. You can hide the PayPal Standard plugin from the frontend so no more orders are processed through it.

The reason I recommend that is because Braintree uses something called a token ID to represent the saved payment method. That token ID is used to processing recurring payments. I am not aware of a way to convert your customer’s billing agreements that were created using PayPal Standard into Braintree tokens. I could reach out to Braintree Support though and see if that’s a possibility.

You can reach out to me via the plugin’s support (green button located on all the plugin settings pages) and we can have a more in-depth conversation via that channel.

    Kind Regards,
