I love the plugin and love the most recent update. However, there is a very small issue that I came across. I am using the widget on my front page using the “Cardview Compact” theme. When the page loads, at the top, left-hand section of the page, just below the menu bar, a stack of multiple category links appear and then disappear when the page fully loads.

You should be able to see the issues here: https://mychesco.com/

I have tested it and am certain it is not related to the “Trending Now” in the sidebar. It is being caused by the “Reader’s Favorites” section at the bottom of the page.

    Hi @tjalexander70,

I tried checking your site but it appears to be unavailable at the moment:

Thanks, I can access your website now.

Alright, I had a look and I know what the issue is and fortunately it’s very easy to fix. For the time being and until 5.0.1 is released:

    1. Go to Plugins > Editor and select WordPress Popular Posts to edit it (dropdown at the right of the screen).
    2. Go to assets/themes/cardview-compact/config.json to edit this file.
    3. Find "wpp-start": "<ul class=\"wpp-list\">" and change it to "wpp-start": "<ul class=\"wpp-cardview-compact\">", then hit the Update file button to apply changes.
    4. Go to assets/themes/cardview-compact/style.css to edit this file.
    5. Change every instance of .wpp-list into .wpp-cardview-compact, then hit the Update file button to apply changes.
    6. Go to Appearance > Widgets, open your Reader’s Favorites WPP widget, change the theme to another one (eg. Cardview), hit on Save to apply changes, switch back to the Cardview Compact theme, and then click on Save again.

    That should fix the problem.

Thanks! I will make the update later today and update you if it works… which I am sure it will, of course.

I checked, double checked, and triple checked but I seem to have done something wrong. After making the changes, the style seems to have broken. I have tried to figure things out but don’t have anymore time to spend on it.

So, I tried just using the standard Cardview theme but it has the same issue as stated in the original post.

I switched to Tiny and things are fine. So, that is what I am going with for now.

Got it, thanks for trying @tjalexander70. I’ll do some more testing here and leave a comment if I need your help again and/or have news to share.

Alright, let’s give this another shot. Please:

    1. (Optional, but recommended) make a backup of your database.
    2. Download WordPress Popular Posts 5.0.1 Beta 1 (assets > source code zip).
    3. Open the zip file with your favorite zip file utility program (WinRar, WinZip, 7zip, etc). Do not extract its contents, just open the file. Find and delete the uninstall.php file (this is so you can safely uninstall this beta version of the plugin afterwards without losing any data), then close the zip file.
    4. Go to Plugins and deactivate WordPress Popular Posts 5.0.0 (do not uninstall it or else you’ll lose your popular posts data!)
    5. Go to Plugins > Add New.
    6. Click on the Upload Plugin button (right next to the Add Plugins title), select the zip file and click on Install Now. This will install WPP 5.0.1 Beta 1 on your site automatically. Click on Activate Plugin to activate it right away.
    7. Go to Appearance > Widgets, open your WPP widgets, change their themes to another one (eg. Cardview), hit Save to apply changes, switch back to the theme you wish to use for each instance, and then click on Save again.
