• Love the plugin but I have a request for a minor improvement ??

I’m in the progress, as I write, of running a bulk optimize for my site. And there are a LOT of images, and I’m getting it to optimize all the saved variation of each image. It’s taking a long time – hours. It would therefore be nice, in the case of where there’s a lot to do, if an estimate completion time could be displayed, if only to give me a rough idea of how long it’s going to take.

    Thanks.

Hmm, not sure if it is possible, but I could try. It could certainly fluctuate wildly at the beginning, but that’s about the same with any sort of time indicator on a computer.

Yes. It took 5 hours in the end!

You just to start a timer when it’s kicked off. Then, divide current total time by number processed to get the current average and then multiple that by those remaining – that will give you the remaining time.

sticking as a feature request, add your +1 if you like this idea

I’m unsure if something major is needed, simply stating the average time for the amount of images that the user has might do.

For example, you could just add text like “You have 4,000 images to optimise, this normally takes around 3 hours to complete”.

This is something a user is only going to have to complete once, so I’m unsure if you need anything more than that, but it would be cool to have an average time.

I’ve added this to the roadmap, potentially in a minor release after 3.2 is out (I’m in feature freeze mode already, so it won’t make 3.2)

I’ve added this for the next release, code is on github
